So, tomorrow is the big day when we close on our new house! It has been a long and intense process and I can’t wait to cross the finish line and call this new house our home. I’m pumped you guys. And tomorrow morning I’ll, definitely most likely, be looking a little something like this…

While this whole moving thing is inevitably a stressful situation, we’re lucky enough to have a bit of a carryover in moving from our current house into our new house. When all is said and done, we’ll have about a month to transition over which allows us a little bit of time for some meticulously planned out preparations in the new digs. So, this weekend will be spent taking advantage of a house with no furniture with some light demo and prepping.

One of the things we definitely want to work on in the new house is the kitchen. The space isn’t bad now but as far as finishes and fixtures go, we definitely want to update the kitchen and make it a little bit more us. We will be painting the cabinets (inside and out) so this month long overlap seems like the perfect time to get that going. If I only have to pack and unpack a kitchen once during this move, I’ll be a happy girl.

I put together a mood board for our kitchen plans to give you an idea of the direction we are heading as far as finishes go…

kitchen plansI want to stay pretty neutral as far as the finishes go with whites, grays and blacks and brink in color with textiles & accessories. I like the idea of white walls, light gray painted cabinets and sleek gold or brass hardware to make it a little extra special. Bringing in one some natural wood elements, one of our persian runners (you can see a bit of the one I’m thinking of using here), and a simple roman shade will add warmth and comfort to a space that can easily feel cold.

Here are a few inspiration images that have been running around in my head…

I hope to be back next week with some demo updates and pictures next week along with some solidified plans for moving forward in the other spaces. New house, here we come!
